Council of Greater Detroit
will hold its annual meeting
on Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. at Tem-
ple Emanu-El in the Patricia
Modell Youth Room. The
community is invited.
Annual reports will be
given by the president and
the treasurer. Election of offi- .
cers, executive and adminis-
trative committee and board
of directors will be held and
everyone will have the oppor-
tunity of meeting the fea-
ttfied speaker, Ambassador
Jacob Barmore of Israel.
Barmore is a career dip-
lomat. Prior to the estab-
lishment of the state, he took
part in the defense forma-
tions of Palestine and, after
the War of Independence, he
joined the Israel Foreign
Service.
Barmore has served in
Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico,
was consul-general in the
U.S. in the Midwest, and am-
bassador to the United Na-
tions in New York.
He has taught history and
his particular interest is
Eastern Europe and the Mid-
dle East. In 1978, Barmore
assumed the position of direc-
tor of the information de-
partment of Keren Kayemuth
Leisrael with its head office
in Jerusalem.
