Drive Launched

The Detroit Free Press,
WJBK-TV and WJLB-FM
will co-sponsor, along with
the Jewish Community
Council, the "Seven Percent
Solution," on World Food
Day, Oct. 16.
Participating restaurants
will donate seven percent of
their proceeds to local emer-
gency food providers with
need to be determined by the
Southeastern Michigan Food
Coalition (SEMFCO).
World Food Day was
created by the member na-
tions of the United Nations
Food and Agriculture Organ-
ization (FAO). Now observed
in more than 140 countries,
the day's purpose is to focus
attention on all food and
farm problems, and to get the
people of the world more di-
rectly involved in the search
for solutions.
