Cheryl Guyer has been
named chairman of the major
fund-raising event for the
Jewish Association for Re-
tarded Citizens.
The event, a concert featur-
ing world renowed violinist
Itzhak Perlman in solo reci-
tal, will take place Oct. 20 at
Ford Auditorium.
Ms. Guyer has served as an
officer of JARC since joining
the board in 1980. She is cur-
rently treasurer. She also
serves on the executive com-
mittee, and is the associate
chairman of worker briefing
committee of the Women's
Division of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation.
Among her other commu-
nity affiliations, Ms. Guyer
serves on the board of the
Jewish Community Center
and is chairman of the chil-
dren's programming commit-
tee at the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Branch. She is also
active with Hillel Day School
and Adat Shalom Synagogue.
Associate chairmen for the
event are: Barbara Nusbaum
and Gail Stewart, ticket
sellers committee; Nancy
Jacobson and Donna
Pearlman, afterglow commit-
tee; Evva Caplan and Harriet
Gelfond, clerical committee;
and Norman Wachler will
chair the sponsor solicitation
committee.
The money raised by the
event is used to fund the
JARC residential and support
services for mentally retarded
adults in the community.

West Bloomfield
Holds Fall Festival

The West Bloomfield Fall
festival will open at 5 p.m.
Sept. 5 and continue through
Sept. 7. The festival, to be
held on the grounds of Henry
Ford Hospital, W. Maple Rd.,
will feature fireworks, live
music, carnival rides and arts
and crafts.
The festival is sponsored by
the West Bloomfield
Chamber of Commerce. There
is no admission charge.
