Mrs. Jan Peerce, chairman
of the board of governors of the
Israel Bond Organization, will
be guest speaker at the Emma
Lazarus Luncheon honoring
Frieda Stollman, to be held at
noon Aug. 26 at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek, it was announced by
Barbara Stollman, president of.
Metro Detroit Israel Bond
Women's Division.
Alice Peerce, who has been a
leader in Israel Bonds from its
beginning, is the first woman
in the history of the organiza-
tion to hold this position. She is
a past chairman of the Na-
tional Women's Division and
prior to that, was chairman of
the Greater New York
Women's Division. She is now
honorary chairman of the Na-
tional Women's Division.
Most recently, she was na-
tional chairman of the Israel
Bond Eleanor Roosevelt Cen-
tennial, a year-long nation-
wide celebration of the 100th'
anniversary of Mrs.
Roosevelt's birth.
Mrs. Peerce also is national
honorary chairman of the
Friends of Refugees of Eastern
Europe and a member of the
board of the America-Israel
Cultural Foundation. She has
served on the board of the
Westchester Philharmonic and
was a member of the mayor's
committee for the first inter-
racial program in New
Rochelle, N.Y.
Mrs. Peerce received the
American Jewish Congress'
• Louise Waterman Wise Award
in 1968 "for her service to Is-
rael." She was presented with
Israel's 25th anniversary
commemorative medal by the
National Women's Division of
Bonds. In 1974 and again 1985,
she was honored at the Inter-
national Leadership Confer-
ence of Israel Bonds. She also
was named Woman of the Year
for Jewish Education in 1978
and in 1979.
At the luncheon, Mrs.
Stollman will receive the State
of Israel's Gates of Freedom
Award. Luncheon chairman is
Jane Sherman; co-chairmen
are Sharon Hart and Dulcie
Rosenfeld. Purchases of $500
or -more in Israel Bonds in 1986
are requested for guest partici-
