Israel Advised
About Reactor

-

Tel Aviv — Nuclear physicist
Edward Teller, in Israel earlier
this year, has advised Israel to
build an electricity-producing
nuclear reactor underground. He
claims that such a procedure
would eliminate the possibilities
of seizure or attacks by ter-
rorists and the danger of
environmental fallout.
Teller, who said that no un-
-derground reactors yet exist in •
the world, advocates them as a
realistic and safe possibility,
particularly in Israel, where
there is a low water table,
ensuring that there would be no
danger to water supplies in case
of an accident.
Prof. Teller is attempting to
raise funds for the University's
department of nuclear medicine
and heart research at the
Biotechnical. Institutions, an
organization which is hoping to
develop a nuclear-powered
heart-assist device, running on
heavy plutonium; the device, re-
searchers claim, poses no danger
of explosion and fueled by nu-
clear material, it could keep
operating for up to 99 years.
