its central redevelopment theme.
Unlike other major metropolitan
areas such as New York, Toronto
and Chicago, the Detroit area
does not have a concentrated
entertainment district ... Pon-
tiac has the potential to become
that district.
"Since the Pike Street Corn-
pany Restaurant pioneered the
area in 1984, other developers
have discovered the potential of
downtown Pontiac . . . In fact,
seven entertainment facilities
have joined the Pike Street Com-
pany inside the Wide Track loop
over the last two years. It's not
Chicago or Toronto yet, but it is
certainly on its way and its cer-
tainly worth a look."
Pike Street Company Restau-
rant on W. Pike St. and Phoenix
Productions are now presenting
"Phoenix Rhythm" every Thurs-
day evening ... The troupe of
entertainers represent an excit-
ing new concept in entertainment
with a simple but appealing con-
cept ... Young singers and dan-
cers are taken out of their familiar
theater setting, brought into the
restaurant ... and trained to be
fine dining servers ... A more
theatrical appearance is given
through addition of lighting,
sound system and small stage.
Once customers are seated,
they are attended to by the
server/singer/dancers . During
the evening, servers perform var-
ious solos . . . and two special
shows at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m
... accompanied on stage by the
other servers ... A typical eve-
ning might take you back to the
currently popular '40s era . .. or
into the nostalgia of the '50s . . . or
perhaps to Broadway and its
many familiar show tunes.
Dinner suggestion at Pike
Street Company . . . try the
sauteed baby perch there.
