Cong. Beth Shalom will
launch its "Lights of the Fu-
ture" campaign at a brunch in
the Orchard Lake home of Max
and Ruth Dobrowitsky on Sun-
day at 1 p.m.
As part of its long-range
planning and to meet the needs
of member families living in
outlying areas, the Oak Park
congregation is exploring the
possibilities of a satellite school.

the 550-family congregation, has
developed a tangible symbol for
this campaign. He has adapted
the long-established logo of the
congregation, based on the de-
sign of an unknown artist, into
a menorah in a signed, num-
bered edition of 100. The limited
edition will be presented to
donors of new and substantial
gifts in this campaign.

Annual Meeting
For AJCommittee
Under the theme, "Remember-
ing the Past — Influencing the
Present and Safeguarding the
Future," the American Jewish
Committee's Detroit Chapter
will celebrate the AJCommit-
tee's 80th anniversary at its an-
nual meeting at Temple Beth El
on June 17 at 7:30 p.m.
Dr. David M. Gordis, AJ-
Committee's national executive
vice president, will be the fea-
tured speaker.
Before coming to the AJCom-
mittee in July 1984, Dr. Gordis,
a Conservative rabbi, was vice
president of the University of
Judaism in Los Angeles and
vice president of the Jewish
Theological Seminary of
America, with which the Uni-
versity of Judaism is affiliated.
Maurice Binkow will chair the
evening, concluding his tenure
as president.
A musical interlude by the
Rosner Trio, flute, clarinet and
piano, as well as a wine and
dessert buffet are included on
the program.
