Jeremy Weiss, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Steven Weiss of Far-
mington Hills, will twin his bar
mitzvah with Al exei Ab-
ramovich of the Soviet. Union at
9 a.m. services Saturday at
Cong. Beth Shalom.
Alexei's father, Aleksandr, is
an electronics engineer. His
mother, Galina, is a physician.
The family first applied to
leave Russia, on May 22, 1970,
but were refused for "regime
considerations."
Alexei's parents applied to
emigrate to Israel with his mat-
ernal grandparents, the Aren-
bergs. When only the Arenbergs
were granted visas, the older
couple wrote appeals for six
months, urging/ that Alexei's
family be alloWed to go with
them. In May" 1980, the Aren-
bergs went to' Israel in the hope
that Alexei and his family
would eventually be able to join
them.
Alexei's father was dismissed
from his job upon application for
a visa. He is presently employed
as a locksmith in a factory. '

Bloomfield Hills, will twin the
observance of her bat mitzvah
celebration with Liza Vasser-
man, daughter of Grigory and
Maria Vasserman of Leningrad,
USSR, at Temple Israel at 6

ices.
Liza's parents first applied for

Leningrad activist, holds Jewish
cultural seminars in his home.
The • Vasserman family has
signed numerous documents
demanding the right to live in
Israel.
Nicole has written letters to
Liza, but has not received an
