Dr. Morris J. Mintz, director of
education for the Vision Re-
habilitation Institute at Sinai
Hospital, will be paid tribute at a
dinner at 7 p.m. Wednesday at
the Southfield Ramada Inn.
Dr. Mintz was educated at
Wayne State University and the
University of Michigan, where he
received B.A. and M.D. degrees.
He did internship and resi-
dency at Wayne County General
Hospital, was a practicing
ophthalmologist in Greenville,
Mich., and returned to practice in
Detroit in 1946.
He volunteered at the North
End Clinic, forerunner of Sinai
Hospital. With Drs. Gaynes and
Gordon he established the first
low vision clinic in the state.
He is a senior faculty member
of the Vision Rehabilitation In-
stitute, surgeon emeritus at Sinai
Hospital of Detroit and director of
the low vision clinic.
Dr. Mintz is a diplomate of the
American Board of Ophthalmol-
ogy and a fellow of the American
Academy of Ophthalmology. He
also is a member of the American
Association of Workers for the
Blind, Low Vision Clinical
Society and Michigan Ophthal-
mological Society.
He has served as consulting
ophthalmologist to the Michigan
Commission for the Blind (20
years). Dr. Mintz is a former
board member of the Greater De-
troit Society for the Blind, char-
ter member of the Low Vision
Clinical Society and diplomate of
the American Board of Ophthal-
mology.
He is a member of the Univer-
sity of Michigan Emeritus Club
and an emeritus member of the
Michigan State Medical Society.

troit Youtheatre at 7 p.m. Wed-
nesday, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. May
17 and 24 and at 2 p.m. May 18 at
the Detroit Institute of Arts.
The daughter of Temmie and
Harold Lempert of Oak Park,
Miss Lempert was graduated
from Oak Park High School.
