STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE ..

ROBERT ARONSON, 76, died
March 25. He leaves his wife,
Rochelle; a son, Eric; a daugh-
ter, Lisa of Saratoga Springs,
N.Y.; and four sisters, Mrs.
Helen Kulka of Walnut Creek,
Calif., Mrs. Dorothy Davis of
Walnut Creek, Mrs. Phyllis
Levenstein of Wantaugh, N.Y.,
and Mrs. Cyril Miles.

ABRAM JACOBS, 59, died
March 25. He leaves his wife,
Theresa; two sons, Mark and
Kenneth; a daughter, Deborah
Domin; two brothers, Izzy of
California and Harvey; two sis-
ters, Mrs. Dave (Paula) Fidler of
California and Mrs. Robert
(Sophie)• Bilkie; and four grand-
children.

SAMUEL BADER, 89, of De-
troit, died March 22. Survived
by a daughter-in-law, Judith
Bader; brother-in-law and
sister-in-law Charles and
Frances Driker; three grand-
children and seven great-grand-
children.

ALLAN R. KALCHARY, 48,
died March 20. He leaves his
wife, Anita; three children,
Rhonda, Kevin, and Lori Ann; a
brother, Samuel; and a sister,
Mrs. Joseph (Linda) Khoury of
St. Clair Beach, Ont.

HANNA LEVADI, 87, of Bir-
mingham, died March 19. Sur-
vived by two sons, David I. and
Victor S. of Livingston, N.J.;
and four grandchildren.

CELIA BEAN, 73, died March
22. She leaves her husband, Irv-
ing; two daughters., Mrs. Arnold
(Sharon) Millman, and Mrs.
Richard (Faye) Rycus of Califor-
nia; a sister, Mrs. David (Rose)
Taxe of California; and four
grandchildren.

SAMUEL R. LIPSON, 82,
former Detroiter, died March 1.
He leaves his wife, Angela;
three sisters, Mrs. Murray
(Matilda) Adelson of Southfield,
Mrs. Frank (Sophie) Schwartz of
Miami Beach, Fla., and Mrs.
Samuel (Katie) Goodstein of
North Miami Beach, Fla. Serv-
ices and interment in Detroit.

BERTHA BESSMAN, 80, died
March 22. She leaves a son,
Sheldon of Las Vegas, Nev.; a
sister, Mrs. Abba (Bessie)
Ginsburg of New Jersey; and
three grandchildren.

SAM MENDELSOHN, 76, died
March 23. He leaves . his wife,
Judith; three sons, Peter Cris-
tiano, Christopher Cristiano,
and James Cristiano; three sis-
ters, Mrs. Betty Roth, Mrs.
William (Lea) Stahl, and Mrs.
Arthur (Ann) Newman; and one
granddaughter.

JOSEPH A. FISHER, 61, died
March 25. He leaves his wife,
Doris; two sons, Milton Philip
and Alan Aaron; and a brother,
Avery.

REBECCA FRIEDMAN, 90,
former Detroiter of West Palm
Beach, Fla., died March 18.
Survived by a son, • Eli of West
Palm Beach; a daughter, Anna
of Silver Spring, Md.; five
grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.

YETTA GARBER, 77, former
Detroiter of Coral Springs, Fla.,
died March 3. She is survived by
two daughters, Carol Pomerantz
of Coral Springs, and Sandra
Reisman of Southfield; three sis-
ters, Ida of Margate, Fla., Ann
of California, and Viola of
Michigan; eight grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.

BELLE HALPERIN, 82, of
Oak Park, died March 20. Sur-
vived by a brother, Jack
Wizansky of Newton, Mass.;
three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Shirley)
Bookholder of Lauderhill, Fla.,
Mrs. Nathan (Esther) Gold and
Mrs Samuel (Alice) Piken of
Lauderhill. Services in Detroit.
Interment South Bend, Ind.

BESSIE HENCKEN, 79,
former Detroiter of Margate,
Fla., died March 15. Survived by
her husband, Bernard; a son,
Robert; a daughter, Marilyn; a
brother, Ted; a sister, Ida; four
grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren. Interment
Florida.

HARRY M. STEINBERG, 82,
died March 27. He leaves his
wife, Minnie; a daughter, Mrs.
Ellen Porvin; a sister, Mrs.
Herman (Mollie) Hoffenberg;

JACK YOUROFSKY, 68, of
Farmington Hills, died March
20. Survived by his wife,
Jeanette; two sons, Ronald S.
and Dr. Leonard A.; two sisters,
Mrs. Yates (Mary) Cohen and

five grandchildren.

D. Sutherland

Dolores R. Sutherland, 57,
co-owner of All Your Travels for
the past ten years, died March
22.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs.
Sutherland lived 56 years in De-
troit. She was a member of
Women's American ORT and
Morgenthau Chapter of B'nai
B'rith Women.
She leaves her husband, Dr.
Kenneth; two daughters, Elyse
and Mrs. Larry (Sheri) Pinho;
her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel (Celia) Schreibman; a
brother, Paul Schreibman; and
one granddaughter.

Belle Bloom

Belle B. Bloom, 77, active in
local Jewish organizations, died
March 19.
Mrs. Bloom was a 10,000-hour
volunteer with the Sinai Hospi-
tal Guild, having worked more
than 30 years in the Sinai gift
shop. She was also active in
Cong. Shaarey Zedek, Brandeis
University Women, and
Women's American ORT.
She leaves her son, Dr. Robert
of Dix Hills, N.Y.; a daughter,
Mrs. Martin (Susan) Smith; a
brother, Cliarles Briskman of
Palm Beach, Fla.; and five
grandchildren.

Benj. Boxman

Benjamin Boxman, 81, foun-
der and co-owner of Boxman
Brothers Kosher Meats, died
March 22.
The butcher shop was founded
in Detroit in 1924 and closed in
1977. Mr. Boxman was a
member of Pisgah Lodge of
B'nai B'rith and the
Businessmen's Club at the
Jewish Community Center.
He leaves his wife, Frances;
two daughters, Ms. Elaine
Cohen and Ms. Adrienne Gobel;
two brothers, Frank and Sam;
five grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren..


HARRY SAMET, 65, of Oak
Park, died March 23. Survived
by his wife, Phyllis; a son,
David H.; three daughters, Mrs.
Melvyn (Rochelle) Rogoff, Mrs.
Steven (Anna) Brotsky and
Reva Samet; a brother, Edward
E.; and five grandchildren.

JACK HENCKEN, 76, died
March 25. He leaves his wife,
Estelle; a son, Richard; two
daughters, Judee and Mrs. De-
nnis• (Lynda) Meeuws; two
