one sister in Russia; and 12

FUNERALS TO ALL JEWISH CEMETERIES

Sammy Woolf

Sammy Woolf, a retired musi-
cian and band leader, died Jan.
18 in Florida. He was 78.
Born in New York, Mr. Woolf
began his musical career sing-
ing with the Dorsey Brothers.
He later led his own band for
nearly 40 years, retiring 15
years ago.
Mr. Woolf was known for giv-
ing musical benefits on behalf of
the Jewish Home for Aged, the
USO and many more charitable
organizations.
The city of Southfield declared
May 25, 1971 as Sammy Woolf
Day and he was presented with
the key to the city.
A furniture sales representa-
tive, Mr. Woolf was a member of
the Furniture Travelers Club of
Michigan, Detroit Federation of
Musicians, Mosaic Lodge of the
Masons and Brandeis Lodge of
B'nai B'rith.
He leaves his 'wife, Anne; a
son, Dr. Elroy; two daughters,
Mrs. Margo Cohen and Mrs.
Bunny Nickamin of Scottsdale,
Ariz.; a brother, Harry of Hol-
lywood, Fla.; and ten grand-
children. Interment Detroit.

Rose Gilbert

Rose Gilbert, a member of
Jewish communal organizations,
died Jan. 17 at age 96.
Born in Poland, Mrs. Gilbert
was a member of the former
Aaron Moshe Synagogue, the
Mothers Club of Detroit and the
Jewish Women's European Wel-
fare Organization and 'volun-
teered for the American Red
Cross, the USO and Sinai Hos-
pital Guild.
She leaves two sons, Philip of
Florida and George; seven
grandchildren and 'nine great-
grandchildren.
