speak Hebrew, English and some
French. Mrs. Ghinis' brother and
parents live in the United States.
Friends of the Loewenthal fam-
ily, Dr. and Mrs. Fred Zwas of
Southfield, on a recent trip to the
Soviet Union had the opportunity
to meet with the Ghinis family
and the girls were able to ex-
change letters, gifts, and pictures.
Although Lisa had written
numerous letters to Geulah, none
had reached her. This was the
first time actual contact had been
established between the two
families. •
Lisa is the daughter of Dr. and
Mrs. Lawrence Loewenthal of
Southfield, members of the Young
Israel of Southfield.

Myron Milgrom, President of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek said:

dedicated; generous leaders in our congregation and
every area of Jewish concern here and abroad. Their
love of the synagogue has inspired the sponsorship of this
evening's program."
Iry Laker, son, said that the concert was held in honor of
the 59th anniversary of Harry and Sarah Laker.
Pam Laker, granddaughter welcomed the' audience
and stated that this is the fourth concert sponsored by the
Laker Family. She thanked the cantor, rabbi and audi-
ence for attending the concert and participating in it.

Franklin, will twin her bat
mitzvah with RacheMenusov' of
Leningrad at services at 8:45 a.m.

Rachel's father, Grigory, and
her uncle Alexander both applied
to the Soviet government for exit
permits in 1975. Both were re-
fused for 'previous service in the
army" despite a document
Rachel's father has stating he had
in no way been connected with
secret material during his service.
Genusov has a lung ailment
and is in poor health, but remains
an outspoken activisit.
In 1981, Alexander Genusov
was granted permission to emig-
rate to Israel, but Grigory and his
family remain in Leningrad.
