Everyman's University opened its
English classes to the Israeli pub-
lic, 700 people applied, and classes
in Haifa and Beersheba were
oversubscribed.
At the request of the Israel De-
fense Forces, Everyman's Univer-
sity — Israel open university —
started its English language
studies program for the military
three years ago under the direc-
tion of Dr. Yael Bejerano.
Participants have included sev-
eral hundred officers and groups
of senior Ministry of Defense per-
sonnel who serve as representa-
tives abroad.
Everyman's University, with a
student enrollment of 12,000,
specializes in flexible home study
programs for working people and
soldiers on active duty.
The English as a second lan-
guage program focuses on reading
proficiency and oral expression
through attractive texts and a
variety of audiovisual aids.
Bleak Outlook
London (ZINS) — The head of
the Institute for Strategic Studies
in London, Dr. Robert Onel, dis-
misses any possibility of peace be-
tween Israel and Jordan within
the next two years.
