Bradley David Sher, son of
former Detroiters Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Sher (Suzanne Kosofsky,
formerly of Southfield) of
Scottsdale, Ariz., and brother to
Wendy, twinned his bar mitzvah
with Roman Shaulsky of
Cheliabinsk, USSR, on Oct. 26
at Har Zion Synagogue in
Scottsdale.
Bradley is the grandson of the
late Mr. Daniel Kosofsky, and
Mrs. Pearl Goldsmith of South-
field, Richard Goldsmith of
Southfield, the late Edith Sher,
and Louis Sher of Scottsdale.
Roman is the son of Alexan-
der Shaulsky, an electrical
engineer, and Marina Shaulsky,
a physician. The family has
been trying to get exit visas
from the Soviet Union since
1979.
The family has been denied
visas on the grounds of "insuffi-
cient kinship," living in a
"closed city" and world tension.
Michigan guests at the bar
mitzvah were Robert Goldsmith,
Mr. and Mrs. Abe Milgrom, Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Milgrom, Mr.
and Mrs. Ben Labe. Attending
from Cleveland, Ohio, were: Mr.
and Mrs. Larry Bello, Jodie and
Erica. Florida relatives attend-
ing were Mr. and Mr. Charles
Ackerman.
Other guests included Mr. and
Mrs. Larry Pallitz; Mrs. Diane
Rubin, Mark and Eddie; Barry
Milgrom and Mr. and Mrs.
Larry Sher, all of California;
Mrs. Michael Dunn of Illinois;
Ms. Nancy Sher of New York,
Mrs. Ruth Presser of Philadel-
phia, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Sam
Milgrom, Mrs. David Kofman of
Toronto; and former Detroiter
Jeffrey Goldsmith of Arizona.
Guests also attended from
Palm Sprngs and San Diego,
Calif.

Twinning Plans Stop
As Family Emigrates
Elizabeth
Rochlen and
Suzanne Herman had planned
on twinning their b'not mitzvah
Saturday with Diana Solovei of
the Soviet Union to publicize
the plight of Russian Jews.
However, their plans went
awry — the family was given
permission to emigrate to Israel.
Diana is the daughter of
Khaim and Yudit Solovei, for-
merly of Riga. Solovei's parents
have resided in Israel since
1973.
Elizabeth and Suzanne will
celebrate their b'not mitzvah at
9 a.m. services Saturday at Adat
shalom Synagogue.
