'Beyond The Walls'
Film Is Shown
The first local showing of the
Israeli award winning movie,
Beyond the Walls, will take
place on Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. at the
Tel-Ex Theater. This premiere is
a benefit for the Peace Now
Education Fund of Israel.
Lt. Col. (Ret.) Benny Barbash,
the scriptwriter, will be present
for a private reception for spon-
sors prior to the film and to
greet the audience after the film
is shown.
Barbash is an Israeli author
of The Great Awakening, pub-
lished in 1981. He won the Is-
raeli "Oscar" award for the
script of this film for "Best Orig-
inal Screenplay of 1984." Bar-
bash is an activist in the Israeli
peace movement.

tion to Peace Now.

Music Composition
Donated To WSU
The Music Study Club of Met-
ropolian Detroit has presented
the manuscript of the composi-
tion, Dances, a suite for cello
and piano, by the Pulitzer
Prize-winning American corn-
poser, Ned Rorem, to the de-
partment of music of Wayne
State Unive?sity, announced
Music Study club President Cor-
liss Rosenberg.
The composition, which is a
suite of seven short movements,
was commissioned by the Music
Study Club to mark its 60th an-
niversary. It had its world pre-
mier at the club's Annual Artist
Concert last year at Orchestra
Hall.
Stamp Club
Meeting Planned
The Detroit/Oak Park Stamp
Club, Society of Israel
Philatelists will meet Tuesday
at 8 p.m. in the Oak Park
Community Center. Theprogram
will consist of a slide presenta-
tion, "Hebrew Illuminated
Manuscripts on Greeting
Cards."
Israeli stamps will be avail-
able for purchase. Refreshments
will be served and admission is
free.
