Eva Fogelman
Eva Fogelman, a New York
psychotherapist, will speak at
the Children of Holocaust-
Survivors Association in Michi-
gan meeting on Sept. 22 at 11
a.m. in the Aaron DeRoy Studio
Theater of the Jewish Commu-
nity Center.
She will discuss and present
the film Breaking the Silence:
The Generation After the
Holocaust, which she wrote and
co-produced.
Chairperson of the psychoso-
cial committee of the Interna-
tional Network of Children of
Jewish Holocaust Survivors,
Fogelman has spoken to numer-
ous professional groups as well
as children of survivor groups.
Earlier this year, she presented
her film at the Berlin Interna-
tional Film Festival.
The public is invited. There is
a charge for non-members.
Jewish Divorce
Appeal Is Issued
The Council of Orthodox Rab-
bis of Greater' Detroit (Vaad
Harabonim) has issued an ap-
peal to local attorneys to con-
sider Jewish law when drafting
settlements in divorce cases.
Rabbi Chaskell Grubner of
the Council said that attorneys
should also protect their clients
by requiring a Jewish divorce as
part of the civil settlement.
"Several recent cases have
been very bad," Rabbi Grubner
said. In three instances, hus-
bands have refused to cooperate
with the ex-wife and the Council
in order to obtain a get, or
Jewish divorce. "In one case,"
the rabbi said, "the husband ran
away and in another the hus-
band has absolutely refused to
cooperate."
Future religious problems for
the couple can be circumvented
if a get is required by the civil
settlement, Rabbi Grubner said.
Persons with questions about
the procedure can call the Coun-
cil of Orthodox Rabbis, 559-
5005.
