Yiddish Focus
Of Women's Group
Frayliche Friendt, a group de-
voted to preserving Yiddish, has
been formed by 26 women in the
community.
Formed 18 months ago, the
group meets pn the last Satur-
day of the month for book re-
views, reports on current events
and just plain conversation, all
in Yiddish.
The group is comprised only of
women, but husbands are in-
vited to some events. The
women meet in members'
homes.
Membership is closed, but
member Sarah Levin said the
women will help anyone who
wants to starther own group.
So far, the women have read
stories from A Bintel Brief and
other Jewish books, sung folk
songs and had a dinner party
which featured a program of
Yiddish songs. Often, the
women use as a resource Wein-
reich's Modern English-Yiddish
Pktionery.
