"Item. The King of Saudi
Arabia, where no Jew can
enter, is a patient of Dr. Moshe
Manne, of Israel. They meet
somewhere in Europe."
If only the opportunity to share
in the social-medical-
humanitarian benefits available

from an Israel-Arab accord could
be appreciated and fully recog-
nized for its immense values! The
Israeli physician would then
surely be among the most avail-
able and most qualified peace
emissaries. Regretfully, while the
benefits are available, they are
not utilized by those benefitting
from them. Nevertheless, the
"Arab elite" continues on the trail
to Israel for cures from illnesses.
So be it.

Weizmann Institute summer program participants are, from left: Ira
Finkelstein, Scott Ettinger and Edward Sendler.

Five young people from the
Detroit area will attend two
programs at the Weizmann In-
stitute of Science, Rehovot, Is-
rael, this summer. The Bessie
Lawrence International Summer
Science Institute will be home

The Lawrence Program pro-
vides some 75 outstanding sci-

from Europe, the Americas and
Israel with an opportunity to
work alongside top Weizmann
Institute researchers, as well as
to learn something about the
life in Israel today.
The program is divided into
three parts: hands-on campus
science experience for students
from all countries; a week in
desert field schools for all par-
ticipants; and a two-week tour
package only for the U.S. group.
Ms. Hart, a 1985 graduate of
West Bloomfield High School, is
the daughter of Dr. Martin and
Sharon Hart. Ettinger, of
Southfield-Lathrup High School,
is the son of Fern Ettinger.
Kudla is from Warren and the
son of Arthur and Estelle
Kudla.
The Karyn Kupcinet Interna-
tional Science School accepts for
summer work about 25 foreign
college science students in the
exact and natural sciences. The
ten-week program offers room
and board and a modest stipend
to the participants. At the end
of the program the student will
submit a report on his work and
will receive a certificate of par-
ticipation.
