Dr. Barry Franklin, director of the Health and Fitness Evaluation
Program at Sinai Hospital, demonstrates one of the program's tests.
A new program at Sinai Hospi-
tal will provide Detroit-area resi-
dents with the chance to obtain a
comprehensive evaluation of
their cardiovascular fitness level.
The hospital's Health and Fit-
ness Evaluation Program makes
use of state-of-the-art diagnostic
equipment and expert analysis to
pinpoint the patient's condition.
The program is overseen by exer-
cise physiologist Dr. Barry
Franklin and cardiologist Dr.
David Wrisley.
Meanwhile, a pair of Sinai
ophthalmologists have been
trained to perform a procedure
which corrects some forms of im-
paired vision with contact lenses
made of human corneal tissue.
Dr. William C. Albert and Dr."
Steven P. Dunn have been chosen
to participate in an ongoing
evaluation of the safety and effec-
tiveness of this new procedure,
called epikeratophakia. The
lenses are manufactured by a
California-based company which
is co-sponsoring the study along
with Louisiana State University.
