died May 9. Survived by a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Bernard M. (Elizabeth)
William Sloman
William C. Sloman, founder
and president of Bill Sloman
Machinery Co., died May 14 at
age 70.
Born in Detroit, Mr. Sloman
founded his business in 1961. He
was a member of Temple Beth El.
He also was a member of the
Michigan Lapidary Association
and was past president of the
Temple Beth El Brotherhood. He
also was a youth adviser at the
temple. Mr. Sloman was a life
member of the Jewish
Chautauqua Society, a member of
the Machinery Dealer National
Association and the North Star
Sales Club.
He leaves his wife, Anne D.; two
daughters, Mrs. Michael (Susan)
Salesin and Mrs. Charles (Carol)
Wolfe; a brother, Robert A.; two
sisters, Mrs. Lippman (Elaine)
Lumberg and Mrs. Morris (Janet)
Berman; and five grandchildren.
Harry Weingarden
Harry Weingarden, founder
and owner of Artistic Interiors
and the House of Pictures, died
May 11 at age 76.
Born in Detroit, Mr. Weingar-
den founded his companies in
1969. He had offices in Far-
mington Hills, Chicago, Los
Angeles and Toronto. He was the
former owner of the Mars and
Zenith Furniture Cos., which
were sold in the 1960s.
He was a founder of the Furni-
ture Club of Detroit, a past
president, and was one of the
builders of the Furniture Club
building in Southfield. Mr. Wein-
garden was a member of Pisgah
Lodge of B'nai B'rith.
He leaves his wife, Bess; a son,
Leslie; a daughter, Mrs. Ellis
(Linda) Roth; two sisters, Mrs.
Nathan (Esther) Katz and Mrs.
Fae Marbel of Chicago, Ill.; and
four grandchildren.
Rebecca Dinetz
Rebecca Redblatt Dinetz, hon-
orary president of Pisgah Chapter
of B'nai B'rith, died May 10 at age
92.
Born in Russia, Mrs. Dinetz was
a member of Pioneer Women/
Naamat, Jewish Women's Euro-
pean Welfare Organization,
Jewish National Fund, Hadassah
and Order of the Eastern Star.
She leaves three daughters,
Mrs. William (Dorothy) Sarut of
Modesto, Calif., Mrs. Erwin (Syl-
via) Harvith and Mrs. Harvey
(Jean) Willens; 12 grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren.
Blase; a sister, Bess Dorn of New
York; and four grandchildren.
BENJAMIN H. SCHOEN, five
days, of Ann Arbor, died May 8.
He leaves his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Walter (Barbara) Schoen; a
sister, Emily; a brother, Michael;
and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Herbert (Mary Ann) Schoen of
Staten Island, N.Y.
OSCAR SCHWARTZ, 86, died
May 14. he leaves his wife, Doris;
a son, Norman of Northridge,
Calif.; a daughter, Gladys; and
one granddaughter.
EDITH SCHWARTZMAN, 95,
of Orchard Lake, died May 9. Sur-
vived by a son, Morris; a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Milton (Rose) Miller; a
sister, Mrs. Rose Panen of Florida;
four grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
MORRIS SEGAL, 48, died May
12. He leaves his wife, Tricia; a
son, Chad; two daughters, Ruth
and Tanya; his mother, Mrs.
Louis (Mary) Segal of Pittsburgh,
Pa.; a brother, Edward of Vir-
ginia; two sisters, Mrs. Ben (Mar-
lene) Goldberg and Mrs. Faye
Adelsberg, both of Pittsburgh;
and one grandson. Interment
Pittsburgh.
JACK SHERMAN, 84, died May
7. Survived by his wife, Dorothy; a
son, Edward; a daughter, Mrs.
Eliecer (Laura) Sredni of North
Miami Beach, Fla.; two brothers,
Ben and Albert; a sister, Mrs.
Sarah Waxman of Toronto, Ont.;
six grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
