A Sensational New

A luncheon to honor volunteers_
will be held 12:30 p.m. May 19 at
the JPM Branch. Awards will be
presented, and entertainment
provided.

Center Thai' Run
Scheduled May 19

The Jewish Community Center
of Metropolitan Detroit will spon-
sor its eighth annual "Chai" long
distance run on May 19.
This is a non-competitive event,
and runners of all levels and ages
are invited to participate in dis-
tances of one, three, six, nine, 12
and 18 miles. Walkers are also
welcome. All courses begin and
end at the main Jewish Center.
The one-mile run begins at 8 a.m.
with all other runs starting at
8:30 a.m.
There is an entry fee, due today.
A late registration fee will be
charged after today.
Official entry forms are avail-
able at the Jewish Center or by
calling Vicki Spisak, 661-1000,
ext. 183.

Service With Love
Volunteers Sought

Callers and clients are still
being sought for the Service With
Love program to be operated out
of the Jimmy Prentis Morris
Branch of the Jewish Community
Center.
The program, co-sponsored
with Sinai Hospital and the hospi-
tal guild's Service With Love pro-
gram enlists volunteers to provide
a friendship call to the
homebound elderly.
Volunteer callers must be
available one morning a week to
telephone about eight-12 persons.

Samson at the JPM, 967-4030.
The program is supported by a
grant from the Area Agency on
Aging, 1-B.
The JPM will offer a variety of
programs for senior adults Tues-
day, beginning at 9 a.m. with
wood carving. Story-telling will
be held at 10 a.m. and Israeli folk
dancing and exercise beings at
10:30 a.m. At 11 a.m., Harriet
Berg and her Tuesday Troopers
and the JPM senior choir will per-
form at 11 a.m. in Jaffe Hall.
Stories in Yiddish will be read
at 12:30 p.m. in the library. Stan-
ley Clamage will lecture in the
assembly hall at 1 p.m. The Israeli
films, This Year in Jerusalem and
Loving Young Company will fol-
low.
Meanwhile, the senior adult
department will host the annual
senior adult camp reunion at 1
p.m. Wednesday in Jaffe Hall at
the JPM Branch. Refreshments,
entertainment and movies will
highlight the afternoon.
On hand to answer guests will
be Ada Bandelene, camp director,
Esther Fishman, camp registrar;
and Irving Kleiman, camper.
Admission is free.
A new Friday lecture series for
senior adults will begin at 1 p.m.
May 17 at the branch. Sharon
Schwartz of the Midrasha will
begin a six-part series entitled,
"The World of Isaac Bashevis
Singer."
Admission is free. The program
is supported by a grant from Area
Agency on Aging, 1-B.
