Music Scholarship
Is Awarded
The Karlene I. Salon Memorial
Music Scholarship, established by
the Detroit Alumni Chapter of Mu
Phi Epsilon, international profes-
sional music fraternity, was
awarded this year to flutist Kim-
berly Ann Shaw of Northville.
Miss Shaw, a pupil of Israel
Borouchoff, is a sophomore at
Michigan State University where
she is a member of the Symphonic
Band, the Spartan Brass, and the
Marching Band, as well as the
Student Chapter of the Music
Educators National Conference.
The scholarship, which is
awarded annually, is open to
piano, flute, and clarinet students
at Wayne State University,
Michigan State University, and
Oakland University. It serves as a
memorial to pianist Karlene I. Sa-
lon.
