community-wide Israel Indepen-
dence Day party will take place at
9 p.m. May 4 at the main Jewish
Center.
Co-sponsoring with the Center
are: the Israeli community of De-
troit, Children of Holoaust Sur-
vivors Association in Michigan,
Young Leadership of United
Jewish Appeal, Young Adult Di-
vision of the Jewish Welfare Fed-
•eration and the Community Net-
work for Jewish Singles.
Singing star Yoel Sharabi and
his band will provide entertain-
ment at 9:30 p.m. Refreshments
and music for dancing will follow.
Advance tickets are available
at a discount at the Center
cashier's office. Patron tickets
also are available.

Shaliach To Speak
Benny Schwarz, shaliach at the
Israel Aliyah Center, will give a
slide presentation on Israel at
7:30 p.m. May 7 at main
Jewish Community Center.
Schwarz will speak on visiting
Israel, life on a kibbutz, Israel and
Arab conflicts and Israeli's view of
the U.S.
Bruce Tabashneck, director of
adult and family programs at the
Center, will show slides of his re-
cent trip to Israel.
Admission is free. The program
is sponsored by the Community
Network for Jewish Singles in
cooperation with the Israel
Aliyah Center.
Singer To Appear
At Health Club
The Women's Health Club at
the Jewish Community Center
will present Judy Goldstein in a
program of Yiddish, Hebrew and
Russian songs at 11:30 a.m. April
26 in the Women's Health Club
lounge.
Ms. Goldstein performs at Pre-
ntis Manor, the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Branch of the Jewish
Community Center, at the Jewish
Federation Apts., Borman Hall
and for community groups.
Maskit Exhibit
The Israeli fashion house Mas-
kit will have an exhibit of its fash-
ion, handicrafts, giftware, jewelry
and carpets at the main Jewish
Center from April 27 to May 5. A
reception will be held at 8 p.m.
