The Woman's Auxiliary of
United Hebrew Schools nomi-
nated Mrs. Mickel for a Heart of
Gold. As a volunteer for 16 years
with the auxiliary, she has helped
to raise funds for students of
Judaic study and for the United
Hebrew School's libraries, and
presently serves as chairman of
the scholarship commission.
Mrs. Mickel also has served the
Jewish Home for Aged. She
single-handedly organized a li-
brary for Borman Hall. When ex-
pansion created two additional
Home for Aged facilities in South-
field and West Bloomfield, Mrs.
Mickel founded libraries at the
new locations as well.
In addition to her work with the
libraries, Mrs. Mickel has been
active in the Auxiliary of Jewish
Home for Aged, chairing both the
budget and by-laws committee,
serving as vice president of the

As a volunteer for over ten
years with Meals On Wheels, a
community service of the Na-

in cooperation with the Jewish
Family Service, Mrs. Silverfarb
personally packed and delivered

daily basis. Her strong belief in
this program led her and her hus-
band to establish the Grant and
