MEDICAL SOCIETY will have
their monthly luncheon meeting
on Tuesday at noon at Cricket's
Restaurant in the Pine Lake Mall,
West Bloomfield. Highlighting
the afternoon's program will be a
representative from the Detroit
Institute of Art speaking on "An
Introduction to the Precious Le-

Week of Jewish Woman
Observance Is Planned
Lubavitch Women's Organiza-
tion has designated the week of
March 3-10 as "The Week of the
Jewish Woman."
This second annual event will
be held simultaneously through-
out the U.S. and Israel.
In the Detroit area, the week's
events, carrying the theme, "The
Jewish Woman: An Image of
Pride and Integrity," will be
launched with a brunch, featur-
ing a speaker and workshops.
This program will be held March 3
at the Lubavitch Education Cen-
ter in Farmington Hills at 10 a.m.
The events will culminate
March 10 with a concert for and by
women, starring Jocelyn Ruth
Krieger at the Southfield-
Lathrup High School at 7:30 p.m.
At the concert, one woman from
each participating women's
organization will be honored with
a special Eishes Chayil (Woman
of Valor) Award.
In addition, the community is
invited to join in an Eishes Chayil
contest by nomination a Detroit
woman known for her good deeds
and/or acts of kindness.
A panel of judges will deter-
mine three winners to be pre-
sented with awards at the concert.
Nominations should be submitted
no later than Feb. 18 to: "The _
Week of the Jewish Woman,"

Women Discuss Stories
Dr. Larry Berkove, professor of
English and American literature,
University of Michigan-
Dearborn, will conduct a four-part\
series of lectures entitled "Reli-
gious Themes in American Short
Story," beginning 9:15 a.m. Tues-
day at the National Council of
Jewish Women, -Greater Detroit
Section, office, Cranbrook Office
Centre N., 30233 Southfield,
Suite 100, Southfield, sponsored
by the NCJW.
Tuesday's program will focus on
"The Destructors" by Graham
Greene found in 21 Stories by
Graham Greene on Feb. 5, "Good
Country" by Flannery . O'Connor,
in The Complete Stories by Flan-
nery O'Connor will be discussed.
The Feb. 12 lecture will center on
"Yentl, the Yeshivah boy," by
Isaac Bashevis Singer, found in
Short Friday. The 'concluding
program will be on Feb. 19.
There is a fee. Coffee will be
