yeshivah head
Rabbi Yeruchim Olshin, rosh
yeshivah of the Lakewood
Yeshiva, will be honored at a re-
ception in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Nusbaum, 15041
Burton, Oak Park, at 8 p.m. Mon-
day, announces Morris Flatt,
chairman of the sponsors commit-
tee.
The yeshivah, known as the
Beth Medrash Govoha, has
gained fame as a top institution
for advanced Talmudical studies
in the United States. A total of
1,100 graduates were trained in
Talmudic proficiency and have
pioneered centers of Torah learn-
ing, such as Detroit's Kollel Insti-
tute, in more than 30 cities across
the country. The yeshivah is
planning a bais medrash building
expansion program.
The guest speaker, Rabbi
Yitzchak Chinn, a Talmudic
scholar from McKeesport, Pa., is
among the founders of the Kollel
Bais Yitzchok of Pittsburgh, Pa.,
organized by graduates of Beth
Medrash Govoha. He is chaplain
of the McKeesPort Hospital and
has led numerous missions to Is-
rael.
He is a recipient of the Israeli
Shalom Award.
Rabbi Reuven Drucker of
Young Israel of Greenfield will be
the master of ceremonies.

The duo sings English, Yiddish
and current Israeli melodies. An

New York — The 40th anniver-
sary of the arrest by the Soviet
Union of Swedish diplomat Raoul
Wallenberg was marked by the
Anti-Defamation League of B'nai
B'rith (ADL) yesterday in .a cere-
mony at New York City Hall.
Jeane Kirkpatrick, the United
States ambassador to the United
Nations, and New York Mayor
Edward Koch addressed the-
crowd gathered to honor Wallen-
berg, who rescued 20,000 Hunga-
rian Jews from the Holocaust and
who may still be alive in a Soviet
prison.
In Paris this week, B'nai B'rith
International passed a resolution
during a meeting of the organiza-
tion's plenary ' ,council honoring
the righteous Gentile.
