CONG. BETH SHALOM SIS-
TERHOOD was one of 25 sister-
hoods which won national Double
Hai Awards at the recent biennial
national convention of the
Women's League for Conserva-
tive Judaism, held at the Concord
Hotel, Kiamesha Lake, N.Y. The
sisterhood received an honorable
mention award from the Jewish
Family Living Department for
the scope of its annual Passover
workshop. Hilda Lucas is the
Jewish Family Living Chairman
for the sisterhood.

sponsor a winter brunch, featur-
ing Judge Hilda R. Gage, Oakland
County Circuit Court Judge, at 11
a.m. Jan. 14 in the Morris Adler
Hall. Judge Gage will speak on
"Women and the Law." The
mothers of 1984-1985 b'nai and
b'not mitzvah and high school
graduates will be honored at this
event.
Judge Gage was an active trial
attorney prior to her election to
the Oakland County Circuit
Court bench in 1978. She is
chairman of the National Com-
mittee on Court Delay Reduction;
chairman of the National Confer-
ence of State Trial Judges (ABA);
fellow, American Bar Founda-
tion; delegate House of Delegates,
ABA; member, American Law In-
stitute; vice president of the
Michigan Judges Association.

Book review
series to begin
Pioneer Women/ Naamat an-
nounces the beginning of its 1985
Book Review Series held in con-
junction with the Midrasha-
College of Jewish Studies.
The first review will be held at
Cong. Beth Achim on Jan. 17 at
1:30 p.m. Sharon Schwartz will
review God Knows by Joseph Hel-
ler.
