IN THE BEAUTIFUL
ongoing-like saga that began with
Harry Gunsberg writing us to ask
if any readers graduated from
College High . . . and letter from
Sadie Leventhal, of Brooklyn,
N.Y. that she attended and would
like to get in touch with Harry,
another new page unfolds.
According to Bob Schram, his
brother-in-law, Harry sent her a
copy of his graduating picture .. .
with Sadie standing next to him
. . . Seems that Bob also went
there before becoming Harry's
brother-in-law . . . When former
Central High School moved to its
new location on Linwood and
Tuxedo, Bob remained at College
High until it disbanded in 1928
. . . going on to graduate from
Northern High.
Now comes forward Esther
Whitman Weinert, who says she
graduated from Detroit College
High in 1927 . . . Principal of the
school, says Esther, was Dr. Leigh
Cooper . . . N. C. Nielson was
assistant principal.
It was located on the present
site of Wayne State University,
the school which Harry Antman
called to tell he attended when it
was previously known as City
College of Detroit. The building is
now called it was Old Main on the
WSU campus, at Cass and War-
ren.
So much more nostalgia un-
ravels . . . Harry's grandfather,
Moses Gunsberg, was namesake
of original Cong. B'nai Moses ..
There were three brothers in
Gunsberg Packing Co. . . . Sig-
mund, Harry's dad; faher of
George and Dick; and Joseph .. .
Sigmund founded Gunsberg
Sausage, which Harry heads to-
day.
GET WELL WISHES . . . to
Rhoda Lubaski . . . at Sinai Hospi-
tal.
HAMILTON PLACE on
Southfield Rd. has been sold .. .
New owners are Carol and Herb
Lawson.
DONOR LUNCHEON by

troiters Bob and Helen Rothen-
berg . . . on their 38th anniversary

ach, Fla.

tate and Construction Unit of

the group taking in career women
as members for a first timer .. .

tions limited to 100 persons for

front Apartments downtown, 10
a.m. to 12 noon . . . with com-
plimentary breakfast . . . Bruce

MAIL DEPT.. . . Please make
the following corrections to your
column of Fri., Nov. 16 on Mort
Lewis' article on our Detroit Club.
First, Elaine and Hy Emery are
expecting their first grandchild,
not child. He has since been born,
and his name is Jason Matthew.
Second, all the phone numbers ae
incorrect. They should read as fol-
lows; Hy Emery, 963-1150; Sally
Landy, 472-7211; Elaine Wander,
472-6562; Mort and Sally Lewis,
972-4645.
"We thank you for your articles
and they have certainly helped
get more Detroiters to join us."

IS FORMER RALEIGH
HOUSE site destined to become a
do-it-yourself home improvement
operation from the south? If so, too
bad it couldn't be retained as a
catering operation . . . Even if the
walls and ceiling have been gut-
ted, its beautiful outside remains
. . . and just for people to again
say, "We'll be having our affair at
the Raleigh House" would jam
pack the place with parties.

of Yesteryears .. .
Feb.16, 1968 ... "While saying
her prayers, last week, 4-year-old
Martha Abrams, daughter of Syl-
via and Leon, was visited in her
bedroom by Aunt Sadie Hoptman
from New York, staying at the
house . ." 'It's a pleasure,' said
auntie, `to hear you saying your
prayers so well. You speak so ear-
nestly and seriously, and mean
what you say and care about it.'
. . . 'But auntie,' little Martha an-
swered, 'you should hear me
gargle!' "
