Israeli Secular Humanist leader
to address Coalition Day
Zev Katz, co-founder of the Is-
rael Association for Secular
Humanistic Judaism, will ad-
dress the Coalition Day obser-
vance of the Michigan Coalition of
Secular and Humanistic Jews at 3
p.m. Saturday at the Birmingham
Temple.
Katz will speak on "Secular
Humanistic Judaism in Israel."
He is professor and senior lecturer
at the Hebrew University Insti-
tute of History. He also teaches at
the School for Overseas Studies.
Geraldine Revzin, director of
the Congress of Secular Jewish
Organizations, will speak at 10
a.m. on "Secular Humanistic
Judaism — The Past." Mrs. Re-
vzin has been president and a
board member of Chicago's South
Side School of Jewish Studies for
33 years. She is executive secre-
tary and newsletter editor for the
Congress of Secular Jewish
Organizations.
Miriam Jerris, executive direc-
tor of the Society for Humanistic
Judaism, will deliver a talk on
"Secular Humanistic Judaism —
The Future" at 1 p.m.
Mrs. Jerris is a master's degree
candidate in Near Eastern
studies, Hebrew, at the Univer-
sity of Michigan. She pursued
studies toward a master's degree
at Wayne State University and
holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in
psychology from WSU.
She is on the board of the North
American Committee for
Humanism, a member of the New
Jewish Agenda Metro Detroit
