the B'nai B'rith International
Great American Traditions
Award Dinner slated for Dec. 5 at
6 p.m. at The Westin Hotel.
A native of Detroit, Schwartz
attended the Cranbrook School in
Bloomfield Hills. Enlisting in the
Navy in 1943, he served in the
SOuth Pacific with the rank of
ensign. Upon completion of mili-
tary service he returned to the
University of Michigan where he
received his undergraduate de-
gree.

Schwartz served as an editor of
the Harvard Law Review. He re-
turned to Detroit in 1952 and be-
c ame affiliated with the law firm
of which he is now a senior part-
ner, Honigman, Miller, Schwartz
and Cohn.
B'nai B'rith awarded Schwartz
its International Humanitarian_
Award in 1978.
The dinner will honor Bernard
M. Fauber, chairman of the board
and chief executive officer of
Kmart Corp., and David Handle-
man, chairman of the board and
chief executive officer of Handle-
man Co.
Following the presentation of
the Greater American Traditions
Award to the honorees the pro-
) gram will feature recording and
concert artist Barry Manilow.
Proceeds from the dinner will
benefit the B'nai B'rith youth
serving agencies.
Dietary laws will be observed.
