will be honored by Young Israel of
Oak-Woods at its annual banquet
on Dec. 9 at the synagogue.
Levitsky, a longtime member of
the board of directors and the
executive committee, has served
as treasurer of the congregation
for the past 15 years.

Chairmen of the event are
Rabbi Ernest Greenfield and Mrs.
Fayga Dombey. Stuart Snider,
vice president of Young Israel, is
chairman of the annual journal
publication which will coincide
with the dinner.

Adult study begins at Oak-Woods

Young Israel of Oak-Woods has
begun a new program of adult
study that is open to the members
of the Jewish community. There
are no fees.
The following courses are
available: Medieval Jewish His-
tory, 9 a.m., Sunday, Rabbi Max
Kapustin; Maimonides' 13 Prin-
ciples of Faith, 10 a.m., Sunday,
Rabbi James I. Gordon.
The following classes taught by
Rabbi Eliezer Cohen: 8 p.m. Sun-

day, Talmud (women's group);
Monday and Wednesday, 7 p.m.,
Talmud for high school and
college age men; Tuesday 8 p.m.,
Parshat Hashavuah for adults;
Thursday, 8 p.m., Advanced Tal-
mud; Shabbat, 45 minutes prior to
Minchah, analysis and discussion
of Siddur, prayers and ritual, his-
torical development and psak,
men and women.
