ter, W. Maple, is one of Josephine
1 -
-
r.
,
Fink, aged 89 . . . She still works
five days a week as a secretary in
downtown Detroit.
During a recent power failure
at work, Josephine walked down
from her office on the 45th floor to
the 16th floor, where a young man
offered to carry her to the 13th
floor where they could get an
elevator that was still functioning
in another part of the building .. .
She told this to JHFA Assistant
Director Cheryl Riskin and Renee
Mahler, director of special proj-
ects, who photographed her for
the Accent On Living Photograph
Show "The Possibilities are Age-
less" . . . winking, "If you can't be
famous, be notorious."

CONGRATS . . . to Dorothy

their 50th anniversary .....It's
today, but party will be given for
them Oct. 27 at Sheraton-
Southfield Hotel . . . by children
and spouses, Zeda and Peter
Nathan, Howard and Carla Moss.
Fifty years ago, when Dorothy
and Jerry were wed, they couldn't
aford a photographer . . . Zeda and
Howard will make certain the
special moments are captured this
time around.
Favorite story by Jerry is tel-
ling Zeda that at his parent's 50th
anniversary party, Jerry's father,
Zelman Moss, stood up and
thanked everyone for coming to
their 50th Iron anniversary .. .
His older brother, late Herman
Moss, said, "Dad, it's your golden
anniversary" . . . Zeda's and How-
ard's grandfather replied, "If I
could stand being married to your
mother (Esther Moss) for 50
years, I must be made out of iron!"

this Sunday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. . . .
at Cong. Beth Achim, W. 12 Mile.
JEWELRY HINTS . . . by
Bruce M. Weiss . . . Quite a few
chains wouldn't be broken if,
when seeing a kink, people don't
try to pull them out . . . Pulling is
a sure way to break a chain . . . if
not this time, the next . . . Instead,
lay it flat and gently ease the
links until kink is str aigtened .. .
"If this doesn't work," says Bruce,
"bring it in and we'll do it for you."
Bruce recently opened, Sept. 26,
in the new Mayfair Shops, behind
Gabe's Market on 12 Mile and
Northwestern . . . He was for-
merly with Al-Kay Jewelers eight
years . . . and does custom design-
ing on the spot . . . plus being a
complete service center . . . His
free advice department is gaining
much good comment . . . espe-
cially for everything a person
wanted to ask their jeweler but
never did . . . But thing is the
polishing, steaming and ultra-
sonic cleaning of jewelry . . . at no
charge.
Don't be surprised if walking in
and seeing Bruce's brother, Dr.
Larry Weiss, behind the counter
. . . also giving advice if you have
sore feet . . . Larry is helping
Bruce out while learning the
jewelry trade . . . but continues
his practice at Professional Foot
Center.
