Health Services

—An Adult Ambulatory Psychiatric Center, which
offers a full range of non-emergency outpatient
psychiatric services. For more information, call

—The Problems of Daily Living Clinic. a nationally-
known program which provides short-term ther-
apy to defuse immediate problems before they
become more complex and require more intensive

• Cardiovasculaf Fitness and
Rehabilitation

Sinai's Cardiovascular Fitness and Rehabilitation
program is designed for persons recovering from
a heart attack or coronary surgery and those wish-
ing to reduce their risk of developing heart disease.
It combines education and exercise to safely and
effectively improve physical fitness. For more infor-

• Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Services include physical. occupational and speech
therapy; testing for speech or hearing difficulties;
medical evaluations for problems of rehabilitation,
pain and motion; and electromyographic testing.
Facilities for exercise, traction, and whirlpool and
heat - treatments are available. For more informa-
tion, call 493-6300.
These services continue to be available at the main
campus of Sinai Hospital, on Outer Drive near
Greenfield in northwest Detroit.
Dental and internal medicine services are also avail-
able in the Health Care*Center building.

tee on the Holocaust of the
Greater Detroit Round
Table of the National Con-
ference of Christians and
Jews and the Jewish Corn-
munity Council of Met-
ropolitan Detroit have
scheduled a spring youth
symposium on the
Holocaust to be held 9 a.m.
May 8 at the main United
Hebrew Schools building.
Over 200 students from
schools in the tri-county
area who have had previous
Holocaust education are ex-
pected to participate.

On Wednesday, at 1 p.m.,
the annual statewide
Holocaust commemoration
will be held on the steps of
the Capitol building in
Lansing. The observance is
coordinated by the Jewish
Community Council of Met-
ropolitan Detroit and the
Michigan Jewish Network
in cooperation with Gov.
James Blanchard's office.
Rep. Joe Forbes will
preside and remarks will be
offered by Lt. Governor
Martha Griffiths. Commu-
nity representatives from
across the state will be on
the program.
The public is invited.

Sosnick seeking judgeship

Oakland County Assis-
tant Prosecuting Attorney
Edward Sosnick has an-
nounced his candidacy for
judge of the 48th District
Court. Primary elections
are slated for Aug. 7.
Sosnick, 43, has 15 years
experience as a trial lawyer.
He has argued before the
Michigan Court of Appeals
and the Michigan Supreme
Court, in addition to serving
as a township, village and
city attorney.
Sosnick has conducted
numerous seminars and
training sessions for police
departments and the public
on drunk driving, spouse
and child abuse, criminal

For the second consecu-
tive year, there will be a
Jewish Community
Council-sponsored informa-
tion booth at the Michigan
State Fair from Aug. 24
through Sept. 3.
Its theme continues to be
e'Amar Cain L'Michigan"
(Hebrew for "Say Yes to
Michigan"). A large sign
with the Hebrew lettering
and translation will hang
above the booth.
A new addition to the dis-
play will be a slide pre-
sentation on Michigan's
Jewish community. Area
individuals and organiza-
tions may submit color or
black and white slides for
inclusion in the show by
sending them to the Council
at 163 Madison Avenue, De-

Adat Shalom Synagogue
will discuss the current
situation of Jewish com-
munities in Argentina,
Brazil, Peru and Chile in an
"An Update on South
American Jewry" at 8 p.m.
May 8 in the LaMed Au-
ditorium of the main United
Hebrew Schools building.
The program is sponsored
by the Jewish Community
Council.
Rabbi Spectre was born in
Buffalo, N.Y., and is a
graduate of Columbia Uni-
versity and the Jewish
Theological Seminary.
Formerly associate rabbi of
Har Zion Temple and rabbi
of Nes-Ami Penn Valley
Congregation in Philadel-
phia, Rabbi Spectre has
been the spiritual leader of
Adat Shalom Synagogue in
Farmington Hills since
1978.
He is immediate past
president of the Conserva-
tive Rabbis of Metropolitan
Detroit, and serves on the
boards of Hillel Day School,
the United Hebrew Schools
and the Midrasha-College -
of Jewish Studies.
The community is in-
vited. There is no charge.
