Yeruham Meshel
Tel Aviv (JTA) — Histad-
rut Secretary General
Yeruham Meshel will re-
sign next month, a year be-
fore his term expires, and
will not stand for re-election
to the Knesset. He informed
Labor Party Chairman
Shimon Peres of his plans in
a letter recommending his
deputy, Yisrael Kessar, to
succeed him.

Mayors hit
bus attack

Jerusalem (JTA) —
Twenty American and
European mayors meeting
here for the fifth annual
Jerusalem Conference of
Mayors, issued a statement
last week condemning the
"vicious terrorist attack" in
Jerusalem April 2 in which
48 people were wounded.
The statement was made
public by Theodore Mann,
president of the American
Jewish Congress, a sponsor
of the trip along with the
U.S. Conference of Mayors
and the Jerusalem Institute
for Israel Studies.

dinating Committee of Bel-
gian Jewish Organizations
(CCOJB) called on the gov-
ernment of Belgium and all
other European govern-
ments last week to intensify
their struggle - against in-
ternational terrorism.

The CCOJB also asked
the Belgian government to
support its efforts to reach a
permanent peace in the
Middle East.

New York (JTA) — A
total of 151 efficiency and
one-bedroom apartments
will be added to the stock of
low-income housing for the
elderly and handicapped in
the New York area in mid-
1-985 when the Evelyn and
Louis Green Residence is
opened by the Jewish Asso-
ciation for Services for the
Aged.
