Report WB
Mayors favor
Israel talks

London,(JTA) — A former
Israel government adviser
on Arab affairs said last
week that most of the West
Bank and Gaza Strip Arab
mayors are "partners for
negotiations with Israel"
and shared the realism of
the rate Egyptian President
Anwar Sadat.
Prof. Moshe Maoz, one-
time adviser to former De-
fense Minister Ezer Weiz-
man, said that the Arab
mayors, who were demo-
cratically elected in 1976,
recognized the need to
coexist with Israel and did
not want to hand over the
leadership of the territories
to the PLO terrorists.
Maoz, who teaches Mid-
dle East history at the He-
brew University in
Jerusalem, was in London
for the publication of a book
he has written on the Pales-
tinian leadership in the
West Bank.
Although he claimed the
present Israeli government
could do more to encourage
the West Bank Arab leader-
ship, Maoz praised the pre-
sent Defense Minister
Moshe Arens for adopting a
"pragmatic and logical"
attitude like that favored by
Weizman and the late
Moshe Dayan.
He contrasted all three
men favorably with former
Defense Minister Ariel
Sharon, who he said had
had a "tacit agreement"
with the Jewish militant
faction operating in the ter-
ritories and who had
wanted to neutralize the
elected Arab leadership.

Tel Aviv (JTA) — The
Interior Ministry has insti-
tuted an internal police in-
quiry into the circum-
stances surrounding the
suspension of deputy in-
spector Assaf Heffetz for
having leaked to the press
information about police
investigations into sabot-
age attempts on the Temple
Mount in Jerusalem.
Police officers claim that
Hefetz did not himself leak
the information, but merely
confirmed the report when
questioned by newsmen.

Jumblatt urges
Secure border

Rome (JTA) — Walid
Jumblatt, leader of the
Lebanese Druze, insists
that Israel must be guaran-
teed the security of its
northern border.
Jumblatt, in an interview
for La Republica in
Lausanne, said "Israel must
be given precise guarantees
for the defense of her north-
ern frontier. He must offer
Jerusalem the total de-
militarization of southern
Lebanon."

The memories of Passover's gone by. The reading of The Haggadah—
The Kiddush—The Matzoh—The MaNishtanah—The stories of the Exodus,
the Aficomin, and above all the singing of the traditional songs and
melodies that are part of the Passover seder.
However, there is still one more tradition which has become a part
of the family Seder table—Manischewitz wine. Manischewitz wine always
graced every holiday table, particularly the
Passover Seder table. It spans
generations and somehow symbolizes the
continuity of the family Seder.
The "flavor" of Passover would not be
the same without Manischewitz Kosher Wine.
