According to the New
York Times, the suit was
filed in Federal District
Court by lawyers for Guy
von Dardel, Wallenberg's
half-brother.
Von Dardel's suit asks
that the Soviet Union either
release Wallenberg or sup-
ply definitive proof that he
is dead, and in either case
pay $39 million in damages
to the family.
The suit was filed under
the Foreign Sovereign Im-
munities Act of 1977, which
makes foreign governments
liable to lawsuits in U.S.
courts for wrongful acts, the
Times reported.
