The Best of Everything)

(Continued from Page 34)
by Agroyro "Sylvia" Dros-
sos, who makes all the des-
serts, including cheesecake,
baklava, etc. . . . plus being
in front as the dynamo hos-
tess.
She's sister of owner
George Gerou, who took the
name from Island of Rhodes
(Rodos in Greek) with its
2,000 night clubs . . . George
worked in restaurants here
eight years . . . after being
chef at Athens Hilton in
Greece . . . This is the first
time he's had his own place
. . . and wants to make it
really good.
Few places have Rodos
vegetarian plate (now
called Vegetarian Plate
Giorgo, but name will be
changed) with eggplant,
squash, tomatoes, onion,
potatoes, green peppers,
in olive oil . . . served with
rice pilaf ... and it's the
only eatery hereabouts
serving a flaming sand-
wich ... called Plaza
Special (turkey, lettuce,
dressing and Kasserie
cheese.)
In the kitchen with
George are Ted Met-
ropoulos, waiting for his
own place to open, and
George Makris.
Ther's no more carry-out
kitchen in front . . . making
for wide expanse of over 100
seats in an airy atmosphere
. . . with white padded
booths, tables, beautiful
chandeliers . . . and one of
the things all the other res-
taurants lacked . . . a swing-
ing door that sure keeps out
the cold when outer
entrance opens on side of
building . . . under a neat
canopy.
Another thing . . . all dis-
hes are served with bread
and a cheese spread.
Rodos is open seven days
a week, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m... .
and could finally be the one
place that will make it at
this spot . . . It is hoped so
. . . Germans invaded
Greece in 1940 ... and 1941
saw George's father,
Evagelos, hiding Jews from
the Nazi fangs.
REGARDING RU-
MORS about restau-
rants being for sale, re-
member . . . any place can
be bought at the right price
deemed by its owner .. .
Also, don't believe rumors of
bosses splitting up . . . un-
less, in most instances, it
comes from the bossmen
themselves.
GREEK NIGHT is to-
night . . . at the new Pine
Hills (former Honey Tree),
Orchard Lake Rd. between
12 and 13 . . . Belly dander,
bouzouki band, no cover
charge.
IT STARTED OUT AS
A small wedding at the Lit-
tle Church of The West in
Las Vegas . . . with Antonio
Foglia of Antonio of Italy
and lovely Linda Latimer
saying "I Do" within the
favorite chapel frequented
by show biz personalities
. . . Best man was Nick
Sorise of Nicky's in Troy .. .
Also in the wedding party
were Nicky's night man-
ager, John Cetrone, Chuck

Archer, Pat's son, Patty
Harvell and John Zafarana
. . . All stayed in the Desert
Inn, and celebrated with
eight violins in the Dunes
Saber Room.
But this was just the be-
ginning . . . To come yet was
one of the best receptions
over 200 invited guests
have attended . . . given by
Nicky at his Troy restau-
rant for his very good friend
Antonio and new bride,
Linda.
Chef Tino Parrero went
all out with an excellent
dinner . . . no ordinary buf-
fet . . . complete sitdown
dining . . . lobster bisque,
Dover sole rolled in a
spinach mousse with
Florentine sauce . . . (or
chateaubriand) . . . as the
wonderful Loving Cup
group played for dining and
dancing . . . Only thing
people had to get up for was
the luscious work-of-
artistry sweet table.

SERV
THE
BEST

The waitress at our
table was absolutely
wonderful ... Marion
Goforth . . . smiling, effi-
cient, personable and
very much appreciated
by all she served ... Mar-
ion has been there since
the days of Sydney's, Ko-
gy's and now Nicky's.
It was a dynamite party
. . . and why not? . . . so
many beautiful people to
make it such.
Sheree and Mitch Rahal
married six years ago at the
same Las Vegas Church of
the West . . . Ted and Estelle
Cantor unbelievably mar-
ried 33 years . . . Small
world . . . Donna and Art
