The ninth annual
Thanksgiving Community
Service will be held on Nov.
20 at 5 p.m. at Temple Beth
El. Rabbi Dannel I.
Schwartz of Temple Beth El
is in charge of organizing
the service this year. Rev.
Almus M. Thorp, rector of
Christ Church Cranbrook,
will deliver the sermon.
Prof. Jason Tickton will
be music coordinator for the
service. An organ prelude
Sephardic Musical Fiesta
at Conservative Institute
A "Sephardic Musical
Fiesta" will be part of the
Conservative Intercongre-
gational Institute at 9 p.m.
Tuesday at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. The program
will feature Cantor
Taraneh S. Azad, 21, who
will sing three Oriental-
style Hebrew songs and one
Persian song.
Genie Bizaoui and Genie
Warren will perform an
Egyptian folk dance. David
Chicorel will play a,portion
of a tape of the voice of his
father, the late Mr. Jacob

American space shuttle

officials at the National
Aeronautics and Space Ad-
ministration (NASA) and
high-ranking Israelis, ac-
cording to Yuval Neeman,
Minister of Science and
Technology.
Neeman, who hosted U.S.
astronaut Richard Gordon
(Apollo 12) during his re-
cent visit to Israel, also said
the U.S. would soon agree to
launch an Israeli communi-
cations satellite, despite or-
ganized opposition from 17
