Abe Katzman Is Dead at 79

Abe Katzman, retired
wholesale and retail drug-
gist, died Sept. 26 at age 79.
Born in Russia, Mr.
Katzman was the executive
secretary of Clover Hill
Park Cemetery. For many
years, he was a national
board member of the Na-
tional Federation of Jewish
Men's Clubs, a past presi-
dent of the Great Lakes Re-
gion of the NFJMC and a
former board member of
Shaarey Zedek.
He was a member of Sinai
Hospital Guild, Zionist Or-
ganization of Detroit, Cong.
Shaarey Zedek and a past
president of its men's club.

For the past 35 years he

RON, 64, of Oak Park, died

Friday, September 30, 1983 71

Maurice Cohan, a retired
haberdasher and former of
Macon's Men's Wear, died
Sept. 26 at age 90.
Born in Poland, Mr.
Cohan lived 60 years in De-
troit. He was a member of
the Downtown Synagogue.
As a youth in Eastern
Europe, he was unable to
pursue his artistic interests
because his family was poor,
but in his later years, fol-
lowing his retirement, Mr.
Cohan pursued an interest
in pen-and-ink drawing.
He leaves his wife, Lil-
lian; two sons, George and
Leon; five grandchildren
and one great-grand-
daughter.

Richard Lipin

Richard David Lipin, a
manufacturer's representa-
tive in houseware elec-
tronics, died Sept. 22 at age
44.
A native Detroiter, Mr.
Lipin was a member of Pis-
gah Lodge of Bnai Br\ 1th,
Furniture Club and the
Wildlife Federation.
He leaves his mother,
Mrs. Albert (Toby) Schultz;
two sisters, Mrs. Darryl
(Shari) Lieberman and Mrs.
Martin (Barbara) Silver-
man; and a brother, Donald
of Bay City.

LEON N. CUTLER, 76,
died Sept. 24. He leaves his
wife, Edythe; three
daughters, Mrs. Sanford
(Leba) Rautbort, Mrs.
David (Rochelle) Rotten-
berg of New York and
Wendy; and six grand-
