idarity Committee to
mark the first anniver-

Shatila refugee camps
massacre, Arens cri-
ticized his brother for
failing to investigate the
murders of Palestinian
students last July by
what he alleged were Is-
raeli death squads.
This was a reference to
the attack by masked gun-
men on a group of students
at the Islamic College in
Hebron during which three
students were killed and 33
were wounded. The attac-
kers have still not been
identified.
Arens called the refugee
massacres, perpetrated by
Christian Phalangists, "one
of the most horrible exam-
ples of genocide humanity
has had the misfortune to
witness."
Arens described himself
as a penitent and Jewish by
heritage but not in faith. He
shared the platform with
Abdullah Abdullah, the un-
official representative of the
Palestine Liberation Or-
ganization in Ottawa.

The Aging Cantor

By PHILLIP GOREN

My day is not fulfilled without a song
Not complete though I am old
Melodic sounds surround me
Lift my spirit and strengthen me
A feeling of spring nurtures me
Hunger steps aside for awhile
Dreams of beauty formulate
New vistas of peace
Life praying it overwhelms me
Aging pains leave me
My world becomes young and new to me
No end, no stops, I linger along
With a song.

NEW YORK — The in-
tricacies of Jewish laws con-
cerning marriage and di-
vorce are explained by
Irwin H. Haut in "Divorce
in Jewish Law and Life," a
new volume from Sepher-
Hermon Press.
The author ,includes an
historical review and con-
cise outline of the "get"
(Jewish bill of divorce) pro-
cedure and a discussion of
Jewish divorce as it relates
to contemporary times and
the civil divorce procedure.
Irwin H. Haut is a practic-
ing New York attorney and
an Orthodox rabbi. He re-

ceived his law degree from
the University of Pennsyl-
vania and his rabbinical or-
dination from the Rabbi

Literature" and has written

Review.
