The author ,includes an historical review and con- cise outline of the "get" (Jewish bill of divorce) pro- cedure and a discussion of Jewish divorce as it relates to contemporary times and the civil divorce procedure. Irwin H. Haut is a practic- ing New York attorney and an Orthodox rabbi. He re- ceived his law degree from the University of Pennsyl- vania and his rabbinical or- dination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva Uni- versity. Haut is the author of "The Talmud as Law or Literature" and has written articles for the New York Law Journal and Israel Law Review.
