people interested in forming
a new bowling league at 8
p.m. Monday in room 301 of
the main Jewish Commu-
nity Center building. The
proposed league will meet 5
p.m. on alternate Sundays
at Ark Lanes West in South-
field.

Psychologist Prof. Steven
Fisch will speak on "Inti-
macy: The Fear and the
Wish" 8 p.m. Monday in the
DeRoy Auditorium at the
main Center complex, spon-

charge, and refresh-

A Break-the-Fast Party
will be held 9:30 p.m. Sept.
17 at the main Center com-
plex for persons age 24 to 45.
Held in celebration of Na-
tional Singles Week, the
party will feature free wine

jockey Jon Ray of Honey

"The Second Exodus" and
noted Israeli poet, will dis-
cuss "Jews in Arab Lands" 8
p.m. Sept. 18 at the United
Hebrew Schools Au-
ditorium. The program is
sponsored by the Jewish
Community Council of Met-
ropolitan Detroit.
Born and raised in Cairo,
Aharoni emigrated in 1949
to Israel, where she now re-
sides with her family in
Haifa.

English-language poetry

The 1,200 delegates
attending the 50th anniver-
sary convention of the New
Democratic Party in Re-
gina, Saskatchewan in July
rejected a resolution calling
on the Canadian govern-
ment to recognize the PLO
as the official representa-
tive of the Palestinian
people.

magazine published in Is-
rael, Aharoni has taught at
Technion, the University of
Pennsylvania, and Gratz
College. She has published
five collections of poetry.
