Talmud Students to Be Cited at Lubavitch Event Sunday
Six young students of
Talmud, ranging in age
from 14 to 16, will be hon-
ored this Sunday.

The six comprise the old-
est class of the Lubavitch
school, Cheder Oholei Yosef
Yitschak. The pupils have
committed to memory -the
entire Tractate of Gittin,
some 180 large folio pages of
talmudic discussion,
analysis and argumenta-
tion.
Prizes of Hebrew books
and Torah commentaries
worth hundreds of dollars
will be presented to each
pupil.
The dinner, described
as a "Torah - Assembly
Banquet," will be held 6
p.m. Sunday in the Mor-
ris Schaver Auditorium
of the Shenkman
Lxibavitch Education
Center in Farmington
Hills.

which he has total mastery
and perfect recall of the
entire Talmud and all the

Mrs. Winton has been a
lifelong member of Tem-
ple Beth El and was con-
firmed from its religious
school. She received a BS
degree from Northwest-
ern University in com-
munications and did
graduate work at Wayne
State University depart-
ment of education, major-
ing in instructional
technology.
She has been a member of
nearly every committee
within the temple, a
member of the board of trus-
tees, treasurer of the tem-
ple, and for one year served
as the volunteer adminis-
trator of the temple.
She is a past member of
the Union of American He-
brew Congregations com-
missions on education and
social action, and is a
member of the executive
committee of the UAHC
Northeast Lakes Region.
Mrs. Winton is a past
president of the sisterhood
of Temple Beth El, past
president of the NatiOnal
Federation of Temple Sis-
terhoods District 11, and a
past member of the NFTS
national board.
She served as a past
president of the Home Re-
lief Society and Suburban
Hills Chapter, Women's
American ORT. She served
on the art and scholarship
selection committees of
Oakland University, was
director of volunteer place-
ment for the Continuum
Center of Oakland Univer-
sity, and was a founding
member of the art sym-
posium lecture series at the
university.
