Yitzhak Mayer, the Con-
sul General of Israel in
Montreal, denounced the
coalition of trade unionists,
political figures, Socialists
and Palestinians who are
protesting Sharon's visit.
Mayer said, "The persons
behind this dubious effort
have publicly based their
opposition to this visit on a
string of misconstrued facts
and have launched an un-
precedented campaign of
slander against Sharon the
man and Sharon the minis-
ter (without portfolio) in the
Israeli government." The
coalition has termed Sharon
a "war criminal."

JERUSALEM (JNI) —
Prime Minister Menahem
Begin has never shown
much interest in economics.
The question now is if he
can afford that attitude any
longer. The dramatic
downturn in the national
economic situation has
caused Israeli industrialists
to urge the Prime Minister
to influence the course of
the present economic policy.
For the first time in five
years, Begin last week re-
ceived a delegation of top Is-
raleli industrialists. Begin
declared that he "fully
shares the industrialists'
concerns," but that he also
fully supports the economic
policies of Finance Minister
Yoram Aridor.
In February 1982, Aridor
presented his revamped
economic policy (known in
Hebrew as "The correct
economy").
In this new approach to
the two major Israeli eco-
nomic dilemmas, priority is
assigned to the fight against
inflation over improvement
of the trade deficit.
The roots of the infla-

tion are not only eco-
nomic (rising prices), but
also substantially
psychological (the expec-
tation of rising prices).
'Thus, the government

Begin, Aridor Work on `Correct Economy'

JERUSALEM — Un-
usual research findings on
the inheritance of personal-
ity traits were reported at a
ceremony in which the He-
brew University of
Jerusalem inaugurated the
Scheinfeld Chair in Human
Behavior Genetics,
endowed by the Sylvia and
Aaron Scheinfeld Founda-
tion in memory of Amram
and Aaron Scheinfeld.
The research findings, on
the relative roles of heredity
and environment in deter-
mining intelligence and
personality traits of adopted
children were reported in
the inaugural lecture by
Prof. Lee Willerman, visit-
ing professor from the Uni-
versity of Texas in Austin.
The late Amram Schein-
feld is 'widely known for his
popular books on heredity,
including "You and Hered-
ity" and "Twins and Super
Twins." His brother and
Aaron was president of
Manpower Inc.
The first incumbent of the
Scheinfeld Chair, Prof.
Willerman, is director of
clinical:psychology training
at the University of Texas.
An expert on the study of
twins, he is author and co-
author of many scientific
articles and three books,
notably "The Psychology of
Individual and Group Dif-
ferences" (1979).

Soviet Emigres
Decrease Again

NEW YORK (JTA) —
The National Conference on
Soviet Jewry (NCSJ) re-
ports that only 116 Jews
were allowed to leave the
USSR in May. This is ap-
proximately half the
number permitted to emi-
grate in May 1982 and less
than three percent of those
who left in May 1979.

Good heavens no! At first blush you might think we're putting our
reputation on the block by opening a "Garage!" You might even think
we've abandoned all those wonderful things from top manufacturers
and designers — those unique "finds" that make Silver's Silver's.
Never! We've simply made it easier for you to find new and used, bent
and bruised, furniture for Home and Office for less. Much less. So
hurry on down to Silver's Garage — it's an utterly sterling Silver idea!
