begin Tuesday evening.

A testimonial dinner will
be tendered Prof. and Mrs.
Jason Tickton Sunday at
Temple Beth El in honor of
Tickton's 50th anniversary
as the temple's organist.
Following the dinner at

JERUSALEM — Five
West Bank Arabs were
handed prison terms rang-
ing from 11 to 13 years by an
Israeli military court Tues-
day for their role in a stone
throwing incident that re-
sulted in the death of an Is-
raeli woman last January.
The judges said that al-
though all five defendants
were convicted of the same
crime, two of the Arabs re-
ceived shorter terms be-
cause they were only 17.

wife, Mamie, will begin at
8:30 p.m. today with the
temple's 29th annual He-
brew Music Festival, at
which contemporary
music by American
Jewish composers will be
featured. The music fes-
tival will be the occasion
for the premiere of works
by Herman Berlinski,
Cindi Rosner Kelly and
Julius Chajes.
Four choirs, under the di-
rection of Mrs. Tickton, will
participate in the program.
Tickton started as or-
ganist at Temple Beth El
the last day of Passover in
1933. He has been a profes-
sor of music at Wayne State
University for 46 years, has
lectured for the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra, has
written numerous articles
about Hebrew music and
has won many honors in-
cluding the WSU
President's Award at the
university in 1977.
The two concerts are
sponsored by the Sandra T.
Bloom Memorial Music
Fund. The public is invited
free of charge.
