Begin: Twice, twice, yes.
As a grown-up man I cried
twice. The first time was
when the boat Altalena was
destroyed because of the
horrible event that hap-
pened in the history of our
people, when young Jewish
men an volunteers were kil-
led by a gun used by another
Jew, at the command given
to him . . .
The second time when I
cried was the liberation of
Jerusalem. That was a
different reason. I think all
our people Cried that day.
Nobody was ashamed of his
tears. The parachutists
reached the Western Wall
and embraced the old an-

vision of Israel 50 years
from now? What is your

will be peace with all our
neighbors on that day. In a
much shorter time, eight or
nine years, we shall have
one of Herzl's visions
brought into realization.
The canal which will join
the Mediterranean and the
Dead Sea and create electric
energy in our country .. .
But mainly I do believe, and
hope, that there will be
peace with all our
neighbors, because our
people also in this is abso-
lutely unique; we didn't
have one day of peace. What
I strive for as long as I live
and as long as I can help my
people being prime minis-
ter, what I want to achieve
before I go, is that our
people has peace for an his-
toric period of time .. .

sent generation of Jewish
youth will hear you but
future generations Im

What is the yerusha you
bequeath to them? What
is your final word to
them?
Begin: Well, to the young
people I would say first of
all, prepare yourselves to

country, ancient and new.
And secondly, never forget
your parental heritage.. Be
strong. Never lose faith.

people, and love your
people. Because that people
deserves your devotion and
your love. That is my ap-

estimated 10,000 Orthodox
Jews filled the Felt Forum
of Madison Square Garden
last month to celebrate the
eighth time the reading of
the Talmud has been com-
pleted in the Daf Yomi
(folio-a-day) program since
it was started in 1923.
Thousannds of Jews, un-
able to enter the hall, lis-
tened to speeches by some of
the nation's leading Jewish
scholars over loudspeakers
outside. The Agudath Israel
of America said this was one
of the largest of such gather-
ings of Orthodox Jews.
