Pianist Fedora Horowitz
will entertain at the
Woman's Auxiliary of the
United Hebrew Schools an-
nual donor luncheon 12:15

Born in Russia, Mrs.
Horowitz made her debut at
age 12 with the Romanian
Broadcasting Orchestra.
Following her graduation
from the State Conservat-
ory of Bucharest, she im-
migrated to Israel, where
she became permanent sol-
oist with the Israel Broad-

Livny is a veteran of Is-
rael's Defense Forces and
served in the Six-Day War,
the Yom Kippur' War, and
during the recent war in
Lebanon, he worked as a
member of the army's "Job"
unit, which has the duty of
informing families of the
death of a son, husband or
father killed in action.
Livny was the yourikest
law student at the Hebrew
University in Jerusalem,
and the youngest person to
become a lawyer in Israel at
age 21. He continued his
legal edu6ation at the Uni-
versity of Pennsylvania
Law School under a full
scholarship.

In Israel, Livny served
in the judge advocate's
office as chief pro-
secutor. He represented
Israel at various interna-
tional conferences.
Upon his return to Israel,
Livny became assistant to
the minister of tourism, and
then legal adviser in the
Knesset. He is now the
shaliakh to Canada, repre-
senting the Hebrew Uni-
versity of Jerusalem.

chairman of the day, an-

for Saving Jews
in Netherlands

Eight Michigan residents
were among the 38
naturalized Americans
from the Netherlands who
were honored in Washing-
ton, D.C. last weekend for
protecting Jewish refugees
and Allied servicemen dur-
ing World War II. The 38
men and women were given
medals by Prince Bernhard,
father of Queen Beatrix.
Among those cited were
Peter and Adriana Ter-
maat, Berendina Roelofina,
Hendrika Erlich and John
Witte, all of Grand Rapids;
John Dirkmaat of Comstock
Park; Albert Flikkerma Sr.
of Jenison; and John
Weerstra of Holland.
