Tuesday Meeting to Assist
New Home for the Elderly
Ladies of Yeshivath Beth
Yehudah will hold their
61st annual donor luncheon
noon Wednesday at Cong.

Mrs. Dora Carmen is the
honoree.
A musical program will
be presented by Cantor
Chaim Najman of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek and by Eric
Rosenow. Rabbi Feivel
Wagner, spiritual leader of
Young Israel of Greenfield,
will be the guest speaker.
The Jewish Home for
Aged will hold a fund-
raising meeting for its new
Maple-Drake residence 8
p.m. Tuesday at the
Standard Club North.
Persons have been asked
to attend to learn about the
project which will signific-
antly expand services to the
Jewish elderly. The 106-bed
Fleischman Residence and
Blumberg Plaza are cur-
rently under construction
on the West Bloomfield site
of the Jewish Community

The luncheon will be

Norman Cottler and Mrs.
Fanny Laufer. Proceeds will
aid needy children here and
in Israel.
President Mrs. Laufer in-

Sarah Weiss, Leah Yoffe
and Hanna Greenbaum.
Apricot Loaf
By NORMA BARACH

1 3/4 cups self-rising flour
1 stick margarine
1 cup dried apricots, roughly
chopped
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
5-6 tbsps. milk
Grease and flour a 1-quart
loaf pan. With a pastry blender
or two knives mix flour and
margarine until mixture re-
sembles sand. Add apricots
and sugar. Make a well in cen-
ter, add eggs and milk. The
mixture should have a soft
consistency. Turn into loaf
pan. Bake at 350 degrees for
one hour or until cake tests
done. Let cool in pan about 10
minutes. Turn out and cool on
a wire rack. Slice when cool.
Serve with butter and jelly.
Makes 10-12 slices.

vocalist Helen Rowin. Mrs.
Rowin attended the Univer-
sity of Michigan and Wayne
State University, and holds
degrees in English and
music.
She has appeared profes-
sionally in many musical
comedies and sang the leads
in such shows as "Guys and
Dolls," "The Telephone,"
"The Student Prince" and
many others. She also is the
soprano soloist at Temple
Beth El.
Mrs. Rowin has taught
several courses in history
and development of the
Broadway musical. She
narrates the history of thea-
ter in song. Currently, she is
studying voice with Eva
Likova and is enrolled in a
Master of Music degree pro-
gram at Oakland Univer-
sity.
