Trial by jury itself, in- will be a delusion, a moc-
stead of being a security to kery and a snare.
persons who are accused,
—Lord Denman
The recently published
1983 edition of the almanac
predicts a colder winter
with more snow than the
seasonal average for those
living east of the Rocky
Mountains. The almanac,
now in its 192nd year, is
predicting a mild winter for
the states west of the Roc-
kies.
Easterners struggling
with thoughts of another
unbearable winter can take
heart in the fact that the
almanac has a historical ac-
curacy rate of 80 percent;
and therefore is wrong one-
fifth of the time.
