Costa Ricans
Need Thanks
Editor, The Jewish News:
President Monge of Costa
Rica ran for the presidency
of his country on a platform
stating, "If I am elected, I
will move the Costa Rican
Embassy back to the capital
of Israel; the City of
Jerusalem." This he has
done and is one of the few
politicians who has carried
out his promise.
The country of Costa Rica
has, for a number of years,
due to the political situation
on its borders, suffered
great economic reverses and
needs all the help it can get.
I feel, in light of the stand
taken by its president, that
we Jews should do every-
thing within our power to
help in some way, one of
which could be spending
some of our vacation dollars
there. • _ -
From what I under-
stand, the country is
beautiful with marvel-
ously warm climate dur-
ing the winter and would
make a lovely place to
spend some time
Inasmuch as we have few
friends in the world, we
should do our utmost to help
those who have proven
themselves as our friends.

NEW YORK (JTA) —
Former Prisoner of Con-
science Amner Zavurov has
received a visa to emigrate
to Israel, it was reported by
the National Conference on
Soviet Jewry.
The long-term refusnik,
who first applied for an exit
permit in April 1974, has
been harassed by the KGB
since his initial application.
He and his brother, Amnon,
who applied together, were
granted visas in 1975. How-
ever, the day before their
departure, they were sum-
moned to the emigration
office and their permits
were confiscated.
